Book Lust List
Well hello hello, I am here with the announcement that I enjoy reading. I can read a 500 page book in a day, I mostly am able to do this in the Summer when I have nothing going on. Wish I could go back to those days. But now I just read when I can. Oh well lets ignore my sorrows and get to the juice. My reading list is long and far but I have decided to come up with a relatively small list of all the books I am lusting after. You're welcome, internet.
1. Alias Grace- Margaret Atwood

2. Crazy Rich Asians - Kevin Kwan |
An up-and-coming expert in the burgeoning field of mental illness is engaged by a group of reformers and spiritualists who seek a pardon for Grace. He listens to her story while bringing her closer and closer to the day she cannot remember. What will he find in attempting to unlock her memories?" (Blurb from Goodreads.com)
- You know I've been needing some crime and suspense in my life, and sense I won't actually do those things I should read about it instead, and live it vicariously through Grace. I mainly want to read this because I love Atwood (SHE'S AMAZING) and I loved the Netflix series version of this book, ok ciao.
"Crazy Rich Asians is the outrageously funny debut novel about three super-rich, pedigreed Chinese families and the gossip, backbiting, and scheming that occurs when the heir to one of the most massive fortunes in Asia brings home his ABC (American-born Chinese) girlfriend to the wedding of the season.
When Rachel Chu agrees to spend the summer in Singapore with her boyfriend, Nicholas Young, she envisions a humble family home, long drives to explore the island, and quality time with the man she might one day marry. What she doesn't know is that Nick's family home happens to look like a palace, that she'll ride in more private planes than cars, and that with one of Asia's most eligible bachelors on her arm, Rachel might as well have a target on her back. Initiated into a world of dynastic splendor beyond imagination, Rachel meets Astrid, the It Girl of Singapore society; Eddie, whose family practically lives in the pages of the Hong Kong socialite magazines; and Eleanor, Nick's formidable mother, a woman who has very strong feelings about who her son should--and should not--marry. Uproarious, addictive, and filled with jaw-dropping opulence, Crazy Rich Asians is an insider's look at the Asian JetSet; a perfect depiction of the clash between old money and new money; between Overseas Chinese and Mainland Chinese; and a fabulous novel about what it means to be young, in love, and gloriously, crazily rich." - OK ok ok ok ok, I know that Crazy Rich Asians is definitely having a moment, which is why I am jumping on the same train as well. I mean I love to read about lavish, out of this world, rich people, and so I thought this would be right up my alley. And I also enjoyed the movie so let's see how the two stacked up.
3. Muse of Nightmares - Laini Taylor
"In the wake of tragedy, neither Lazlo nor Sarai are who they were before. One a god, the other a ghost, they struggle to grasp the new boundaries of their selves as dark-minded Minya holds them hostage, intent on vengeance against Weep.
Lazlo faces an unthinkable choice—save the woman he loves, or everyone else?—while Sarai feels more helpless than ever. But is she? Sometimes, only the direst need can teach us our own depths, and Sarai, the muse of nightmares, has not yet discovered what she's capable of.
As humans and godspawn reel in the aftermath of the citadel's near fall, a new foe shatters their fragile hopes, and the mysteries of the Mesarthim are resurrected: Where did the gods come from, and why? What was done with thousands of children born in the citadel nursery? And most important of all, as forgotten doors are opened and new worlds revealed: Must heroes always slay monsters, or is it possible to save them instead?" (Blurb from Goodreads.com)

- Ok world, we have entered the YA portion of my lusty list. So, I think everyone reads YA and it shouldn't be beaten down on just because it revolves around angsty teens, but guess what this book only has SEMI angsty teens. Congratulations! And yes this is also a sequel to the first book, so I've been patiently waiting.
4. Little Fires Everywhere - Celeste Ng
"In Shaker Heights, a placid, progressive suburb of Cleveland, everything is meticulously planned – from the layout of the winding roads, to the colours of the houses, to the successful lives its residents will go on to lead. And no one embodies this spirit more than Elena Richardson, whose guiding principle is playing by the rules.
Enter Mia Warren – an enigmatic artist and single mother – who arrives in this idyllic bubble with her teenage daughter Pearl, and rents a house from the Richardsons. Soon Mia and Pearl become more than just tenants: all four Richardson children are drawn to the alluring mother-daughter pair. But Mia carries with her a mysterious past, and a disregard for the rules that threatens to upend this carefully ordered community.
When the Richardsons' friends attempt to adopt a Chinese-American baby, a custody battle erupts that dramatically divides the town and puts Mia and Mrs. Richardson on opposing sides. Suspicious of Mia and her motives, Mrs. Richardson becomes determined to uncover the secrets in Mia's past. But her obsession will come at unexpected and devastating costs to her own family – and Mia's. " (Blurb from Goodreads.com)
- I have heard so many good reviews, and I hope the hype is truly real, but I just want to read about people burning down houses so this is what I'm gonna get. Also I don't know who the Richardson's are but they sound freaking annoying so hopefully I can make fun of them throughout the book, thank you, sir.
5. King of Scars - Leigh Bardugo
"Nikolai Lantsov has always had a gift for the impossible. No one knows what he endured in his country’s bloody civil war—and he intends to keep it that way. Now, as enemies gather at his weakened borders, the young king must find a way to refill Ravka’s coffers, forge new alliances, and stop a rising threat to the once-great Grisha Army.
Yet with every day a dark magic within him grows stronger, threatening to destroy all he has built. With the help of a young monk and a legendary Grisha Squaller, Nikolai will journey to the places in Ravka where the deepest magic survives to vanquish the terrible legacy inside him. He will risk everything to save his country and himself. But some secrets aren’t meant to stay buried—and some wounds aren’t meant to heal." (Blurb from Goodreads)

- Ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok, yes we are back to YA but most importantly, I tell you, is that I've been waiting for this book for YEARS and that is no exaggeration nor am I being dramatic. This man is the best character in this series, I tell you, so I am glad that there is a whole novel dedicated to le king of the land. Also, quick humble brag. I met the author a while back at a book signing and asked her if she would write a book about Nikolai, Zoya, and Nina, because I felt like they didn't get a good enough ending, and she said 'I don't know, maybe.' And then no joke, 3 weeks later she announces that she's been working on this book for awhile and that it will be released in 2019, and the main characters are exactly the three characters I mentioned, so I am psychic.
That is all on my book lust list for now but if you must know what else is on my beautiful list, check out my Goodreads, yo. (brookehannel)
